The Institute
Our vision is to contribute to the transition towards diversified, sustainable, fair, productive, and resilient agricultural and food systems that support global food security while protecting the environment for current and future generations.
The Institute of Agricultural Sciences aims:
TO UNDERSTAND soils, plants, animals and the environmental factors interacting with them from the molecular to the ecosystem to the global scale
TO INVESTIGATE agroecosystems in their diversity, their response to changing environmental factors and their effects on the environment
TO CONTRIBUTE to the transition towards diversified, sustainable, and resilient agriculture through fundamental and applied research
TO FOSTER the future competences in plant, animal and agroecosystem sciences by excellent teaching and education
We tackle current and future complex agricultural challenges through multidisciplinary approaches, integrating environmental, societal, and political sciences. We strive to educate excellent graduates with a solid foundation and a comprehensive system-thinking of agricultural production, food systems and their global interactions. Our close integration of biophysical and socio-economic research fosters innovative solutions for a secure, healthy, and sustainable food supply.
